Thanks for chatting with us at Sonic Sisters Magazine! Can you share a bit about how your journey into music began?

Thank you for having me! My journey into music started in the church. I began singing when I was just 13 years old, and it quickly became an outlet for me to express my emotions and faith. Coming from a family of preachers, my parents were very supportive of my music, but they also emphasized the importance of education. That balance helped shape my understanding of both my purpose in music and my responsibility to grow as a person.

Who have been some of the most significant influences on your musical style?

I draw inspiration from a mix of powerful voices and storytellers. Artists like Beyoncé and Adele have influenced the emotional depth I aim to bring to my music. Sinach, with her gospel background, has shaped my spiritual approach, while bands like Jesus Culture helped me explore a more contemporary and immersive worship style. This combination of pop, soul, and gospel really speaks to who I am as an artist.

And which female musicians or women in the music industry have inspired your journey?

So many women have inspired me! Whitney Houston's incredible vocal range and emotional delivery had a huge impact on me, and I also admire Beyoncé not just for her vocal talent but for how she handles her career with such precision and dedication. Female musicians who own their space and use their platform to inspire others—those are the women I look up to.

How do your personal experiences shape your songwriting, and what do you hope listeners take away from those connections?

My personal experiences are at the core of everything I write. I’m a deeply emotional person, and I believe that love, pain, and growth are things everyone can relate to. I hope listeners feel a sense of connection with my music, and that it speaks to their own experiences in some way. Whether it’s dealing with personal struggles or celebrating life’s victories, I want people to know they’re not alone.

Congratulations on your brand-new single Letters From God (I Am God) - what inspired this particular song?

Thank you! ‘Letters From God (I Am God)’ was inspired by a moment of reflection. I wanted to convey a message of divine reassurance, especially during times of uncertainty. The song is a reminder of God's promises, that He’s always present, even when we feel lost. I really wanted to share that comfort and hope with others, particularly with those who are struggling with faith or facing challenges.

What song (not your own) has had the biggest influence on you and why?

One song that has always moved me is "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. The vocal power, the emotion—it’s everything I aspire to in terms of performance. It’s a masterclass in delivering a song that is both personal and universally relatable, and it pushes me to dig deeper with my own material.

Is there a song in your catalog that holds a special personal meaning for you? We'd love to hear the story or inspiration behind it.

One song that holds a lot of personal meaning for me is ‘Toxic Places’. It touches on the difficult environments I’ve had to navigate, whether personally or professionally, and how they affected my mental health. I wrote it during a time when I needed to free myself from those spaces. It’s a song about breaking free from negativity and finding your way to healthier surroundings

What are some of the aspirations you have for your music moving forward?

I want to continue reaching a global audience and pushing my boundaries as an artist. I’d love to collaborate with artists from different genres and explore different sounds. Another big dream of mine is to have my own rehearsal studio where I can give vocal coaching and help develop the next generation of artists.

What advice would you give to emerging female artists who are just starting out in the music world?

Stay true to yourself. It’s easy to get lost in trying to fit into industry expectations, but your authenticity is what will set you apart. Also, be prepared for hard work—this journey requires perseverance, so surround yourself with people who believe in you and keep pushing even when it gets tough.

Before we wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to say to our readers?

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported my music and my journey so far. Your love and encouragement mean everything to me. I hope my music continues to inspire and uplift you, and I can’t wait to share more with you all!
