From the stillness of morning to the hush of twilight, percussionist and composer Liron Meyuhas invites listeners into a full day of sound with Sunrise to Sunset, her new 10-track concept album performed entirely live. Conceived as an exploration of the natural cycles that shape human experience, the album unfolds as a sonic diary of renewal and reflection. Meyuhas approached the project as an improvisational journey, recording music at different hours to capture the unique energies each time of day offers — from awakening to winding down. “Different times of the day hold different energies,” she explains, “impacting the kind of music you can make intuitively.”

At its heart, Sunrise to Sunset is a meditation on rhythm — not just musical rhythm, but the rhythm of being. Each piece flows organically into the next, guided by intuition rather than structure. The result is a continuous movement of sound that mirrors the subtle transitions of light and life. This approach is perhaps most vividly captured in “8AM Morning Balafone,” the second track of the album. “This is the second track, after the first coffee,” Meyuhas shares, “stretching the mind and the body and getting ready for the day.” With layers of singing bowls, congas, udu, balafon, shakers, and bells, the piece captures the delicate shift between rest and motion — that liminal moment when the world begins to stir.

“8AM Morning Balafone” stands as both reflection and ritual — a meditative conversation between the self and the world, carried through breath, pulse, and movement. The piece feels alive, as if it were listening as much as it is playing, drawing the listener into the intimate exchange between rhythm and consciousness. Across the album, Meyuhas channels her deep understanding of percussion as a living language, one that bridges time, place, and spirit.

Known as Israel’s first female Hang drum artist, Meyuhas has spent the past two decades weaving the global language of rhythm into her work. A percussionist, singer, composer, sound healer, and educator, she has studied West African drumming in Senegal and Guinea Conakry, jazz in Italy, frame drum and darbuka in Turkey, and Arabic rhythms in Sinai, Egypt. Her journey has taken her across continents — performing in the U.S., Brazil, India, Russia, and Europe — and collaborating with artists such as PEIA, Jose Peixoto (Madredeus), Kutiman, Ajeet, and Estas Tonne.

With Sunrise to Sunset, released through Shoulder Tone Records / The Orchard (Sony Music), Meyuhas continues her lifelong dialogue between body, instrument, and earth. Featuring 35 world percussion instruments, the album captures the sound of time itself — the quiet anticipation of dawn, the pulse of daylight, and the fading hum of dusk. It is a testament to the beauty of cycles — of music, of nature, of renewal — and a reminder that every day offers an invitation to begin again.
