Lilly recalls nearly scrapping the song after hours of frustration. “Every chord progression felt wrong, like the music was fighting against the lyrics. I was about to give up when I finally found the progression—the one that made me cry as soon as I played it. From there, the song poured out in just twenty minutes, which never happens for me, especially with love songs.”
