Nashville’s rising alt-pop talent Zëta Ræ has returned with a new single, “Obvious,” a glittering, high-energy dance-pop track that cements her reputation as a genre-bending artist. Zëta Ræ is known for her inventive approach to songwriting, blending the nostalgic textures of rock and soul with the futuristic energy of hyperpop and alt-pop. With “Obvious,” she leans fully into pop euphoria, demonstrating her versatility as both a songwriter and producer.

The track was written and recorded in the studios of Berklee College of Music, marking Schmeling’s first professional studio experience. The opportunity allowed her to translate her pop-star ambitions into reality, resulting in a track that is both technically refined and sonically infectious. Co-written and produced with Ryan Adams, with Max Troppe on bass, the single showcases collaborative synergy at its finest.

“Obvious” occupies the intersection of flirtation and self-assuredness, its lyrical playfulness paired with slick production ensuring it resonates across playlists and streaming platforms alike. The song’s energy is immediate, offering a confident, tongue-in-cheek narrative about attraction and situationships. Its sound is at home alongside contemporary pop icons like Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, and Ariana Grande, while retaining Zëta Ræ’s unique identity.

Reflecting on the creation of the song, Zëta Ræ notes, “It was one of the quickest songs I’ve ever written — about an hour, in my bed. Making a sassy, dance-pop track about a situationship was a complete departure from my usual material, but it was incredibly fun. Even now, it makes me want to dance every time I hear it.” “Obvious” positions Zëta Ræ at the forefront of a new wave of alternative-pop innovation.

Shoutout to Decent Music PR for sending this artist our way!
