Katie Dauson ‘Go Go Go’ - A Retro Rush That Hits With Style

Katie Dauson’s “Go Go Go” hits like a burst of sunlight through a dusty rehearsal room window. There’s an immediacy to it — no fuss, no overthinking, just raw garage-rock instinct channelled into something that feels both nostalgic and freshly wired.

What stands out first is the energy. The track doesn’t so much build as it erupts, driven by sharp guitar riffs and a rhythm section that feels permanently on the edge of breaking into a run. It’s loose, but intentionally so — the kind of looseness that comes from confidence rather than carelessness.

Dauson’s vocal delivery fits the aesthetic perfectly. There’s a playful urgency in her phrasing, like she’s trying to catch up with the song rather than control it. That gives the whole thing a sense of motion, like it’s constantly pushing forward without ever checking its mirrors.

Sonically, the 1960s influences are worn proudly on the sleeve — garage rock grit, psych-leaning colour, and a faint soulful undercurrent that adds warmth without softening the edges. It’s retro, but not reenacted; more like a memory being reinterpreted in real time.

“Go Go Go” ultimately works because it feels alive. It’s not polished into submission, and that’s exactly its charm. Katie Dauson isn’t trying to perfect a formula here — she’s trying to move, and in doing so, she drags the listener right along with her.
